Who they are, what they do, what problems they had

Librerías Gandhi is a bookstore chain in Mexico with a 40-year history and more than 30 stores across the country. It manages a catalog of over 5 million titles, organized into more than 6,000 categories and subcategories, offering material from over 300,000 authors worldwide in several languages.

Managing a catalog of such dimensions is a constant challenge, and any small error in large volumes can impact the performance of the systems involved.

The main objective was to maximize the organization of information for both physical and digital books.

What We Did to Help Them

We performed exhaustive data cleansing and organization to optimize the operation of Akeneo PIM within the company. Data cleansing included author information, descriptions, product families, and attribute options.

In some cases, more than 70% of erroneous or obsolete information was removed. Supplier names, customers, formats, and other attributes were also standardized to avoid data duplication.

Finally, periodic maintenance rules were established to keep the data source clean.

What They Achieved

A 40% reduction in automated process time and a 35% reduction in time-to-market.

Cleansing and standardizing information for more than 600,000 printed books and over 130,000 authors. Additionally, the information displayed on the PDP was optimized, and the integration between Akeneo PIM and Adobe Commerce (Magento) was improved.

Additionally, a catalog update rule based on sales KPIs was established, allowing for more efficient management.
